Night Sailing Collaboration

Idea

The title of this song came first. I thought it evocative and wanted to try to capture the feeling of drifting under a huge endless sky. The underlying meaning of the song is truth and hope.

Collaboration

Matt Buckland will be helping me to define a guitar track with a similar feel but with more depth and colour.

Lyrics and Structure

The structure is a simple verse/chorus song form as I want it to feel like lullaby. I tried create imagery within the lyrics to bring the sense of space alive. I like to use mythology as it gives layers of meaning that isn't always apparent when listening but helps me to connect with the words.

Instrumentals

The scratch version is a soft strum with an acoustic guitar but, final version has not been defined yet. It may have some violin but I want to be as stripped back as possible.

Next Steps

Once the new guitar track is created the vocals will be re-recorded with my new Aston Spirit microphone. I will then create a simple mix with a touch of EQ and reverb to create the feeling of space and otherworldliness.
